The Dec. 10 Politics & The Nation article “States identify 120,000 abandoned, leak-prone oil wells” described a long-standing and well-documented drawback. The obtrusive lack of monetary accountability and accountability in onshore oil and fuel exploration and manufacturing (and different) industries outcomes from such components as sturdy business pushback and denial; failures in laws, regulation, implementation and enforcement of correctly designed applications; and, in the end, lack of respect for the atmosphere, human well being and property.
